As a special education teacher, I often encountered students with dyslexia in my classroom. However, dyslexia was never openly discussed during my academic career. That is to say, even with my special education teaching credential, there was no mention of dyslexia and its impact.

Dyslexia is simply overlooked in our current education system, and often ignored.   (What is Dyslexia?)

Watching my students continue to struggle in school—knowing it was dyslexia—prompted me to further research the topic. Above all, that research led me to teaching methods specifically designed to help students with dyslexia. 

After training and certification, I began tutoring. Wasting no time, I wanted to help more children succeed inside and out of the classroom.

Meanwhile, one-on-one tutoring out of my home led to referral after referral. Now, more than 8 years later, we are thriving family business.

Dyslexia Learning Center offers a variety of individualized instruction to meet the needs of each child!  In short, we have helped students learn to read, write, and spell, increasing their self-esteem and overall success in school and life.
